Subject: Stop Sharia from becoming official in the United States



Members of Congress,


No doubt, you are keenly aware of the increase of widespread terrorism and violence throughout the post 9/11 world in which we now live. Relative to referenced, it is with these thoughts in mind that I request your indulgence to consider the following.

One of our Nation's Founders is quoted with the following words:

"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." - Thomas Jefferson, 3rd president of US (1743 - 1826)

Also: "Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives." John Adams (1735 - 1826)

The West has no problems with Jews or Christians, but it does have problems with Islam. It is still possible, even today, for Muslims to view the Koran, which they regard as valid for all time, as a licence to kill. The Islamic system of jurisprudence, as dictated by its doctrines of "Sharia Law," has many elements, some of which may differ in actual practice from country to country.

The Koran is worded in such a way that its instructions are addressed to Muslims for eternity, which includes today's Muslims. In contrast to texts in the Bible, this is formulated as a number of historical narratives, placing events in a distant past. Let us remind ourselves that it was Muslims, not Jews or Christians, who committed the catastrophic terrorist attacks in New York, Madrid and London; and that it was no coincidence that Theo van Gogh was brutally murdered by a Muslim, Mohammed Bouyeri."

Samples of some of the Sharia family law edicts include:

• The value of a woman's life is one half of the life of a man.



• The testimony of two women is equal to the testimony of one man.



• Daughters get half the inheritance the sons get.



• A woman does not have the right to divorce her husband.



• A man can divorce his wife any time he wishes and without her knowledge.



• Men are allowed to marry four wives and as many wives as they can buy.



• Women can not travel, work, go to school, or even leave the house without their husband's permission.



• A woman must live where her husband decides.



• Mothers do not get the custody of their children when their husbands divorce them.



• Husbands can take the baby away from the mother and have another woman feed and raise the infant.



• A widow does not get the custody of her children after the death of her husband. The children will be given to the paternal grand parents of relatives, and the mother has no right of visitation.



• If the husband has no family, the community clergy takes the custody of the woman's children including the family money and belongings.



• In the case of a man's death, the wife will be left without her children, home and property.



• In the case of inheritance for the old wife, mother of grown children, she gets one eighth of the value of the building of the house, not the land that the house is sitting on.



• Marriage between a Muslim woman and a non-Muslim man is forbidden and invalid, while a Muslim man can marry a non-Muslim woman.



• If a Muslim woman is raped she cannot bring the rapist to justice without four witnesses to testify in favor of her claim, otherwise she would be punished for adultery.



• Muslim men are allowed to beat their wives to discipline them.

"Islam is an ideology without respect for others; not for Christians, not for Jews, not for non-believers and not for apostates. Islam aims to dominate, subject, kill and wage war."

Do we want to allow the application of this harsh class of citizenship in our current liberal, democratic society? If a family Sharia Law would be recognized by our legislative body, wouldn't this negate the principal of our current human rights? Do we want to embrace the ethical option of "honor killings" within our sovereign borders?

WE are sick & tired of ridiculous, disingenuous excuses! It is now time to act with all haste, dispatch, and alacrity on these important issues tantamount to Americans' freedom, our Constitutional Rights as citizens, and national security. These issues should be viewed as urgent, serious matters, for which you and your cohorts, through apathy and denial, will regret their imminent, deleterious effects on our society and sovereign status by ignoring these salient facts and merely providing lip service as in the past.

On behalf of all freedom loving people, we ask members of the U.S. Congress to take the necessary steps, through resolutions or laws, that would prevent Sharia Law and Sharia practices from becoming officially accepted provisions anywhere, publicly or privately, in these United States of America.
